CONRAIL memories at Spuyten Duyvil

CONRAIL memories at Spuyten Duyvil

This remains one of my favorites.

CONRAIL, DV Tower, Hudson River, and passengers on the platform. It doesn't get more Hudson Freight than this.

8 years after the 1999 acquisition of Conrail, CSX SD40-2 8844 remained in the Conrail paint it has worn since November 1978 as Conrail 6480, part of Conrail's third order of SD40-2's. At the time in June of 2006, only THREE Conrail painted engines remained in Hudson service, so catching them in daylight and leading was an accepted challenge.

Southbound B749-18 with X701-17 and its normal cars on the head pin. DV tower is off to the left, and is manned by the DV maintainers of Metro-North.(Note the yellow truck) Behind the tower is Amtrak's Empire Line to Manhattan. In the background is The Hudson River, with The Harlem River to the left.
