2.2 miles off Neversink Drive at the very end of Shin Hollow Road in the Town of Deer Park, New York, lies one of the most remote locations on the Metro-North Railroad system, and one of my favorites because of it.
Only ATV's and hikers can cross the old and weary bridge here where the detector announces
"Norfolk Southern, Milepost 81, No Dragging Equipment."
New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway operates tri-weekly in each direction and occasionally will operate a CSX detour such as this Q710-20 with 19 trash cars from CSX followed by 46 NYSW freight. Norfolk Southern operates through here only with the Strates Carnival Train.
