CR 21244 goes for its' last ride at Oak Point

CR 21244 goes for its' last ride at Oak Point

Built in August of 1978 for Conrail, this caboose was desired by adjacent land owner Steven Smith/Oak Point Property for years..
Repeatedly turned down by CSXT, a last second deal was made directly with the scrapper, who was more than ready to get to work. CSXT still had to approve of the transaction, and orders were given to mark out all Conrail markings. The caboose is seen here being loaded onto a low boy trailer for eventual movement to adjacent property directly behind the photographer overlooking the former New Haven Float Bridges.

The new owner, Steven Smith; plans to restore the caboose to New Haven livery.
