NYSW at Otisville Tunnel
Due to 2 snowstorms a week apart, New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway operations fell off their normal nocturnal scheduling for their tri-weekly road trains. On Sunday, March 11, a daylight SU-99 operated as lite engines westbound between Ridgefield Park, NJ to Binghamton, NY to retrieve cars to bring east to New Jersey.
Due to signal work on the Metro-North Port Jervis Line, there were no passenger trains running, and NYSW would be the only train this day. Therefore, the crew had to wait 3 hours for a signal at Hudson Junction in Campbell Hall, affording this view at Otisville, New York.
