Spuyten Duyvil: Back in Action!

Spuyten Duyvil: Back in Action!

CSX B749-04 leads a southbound freight through DV Curve on track 4 in the Spuyten Duyvil neighborhood of The Bronx.

This exact location was completely rebuilt following the Metro-North Derailment on Sunday December 1, 2013.

DV Tower, occupied by Metro-North Railroad, stands watch over the junction between the Hudson Line, and Amtrak Empire Line. At one time, the wye connecting the track at left with the West Side Freight Line to the left of the tower made this a great place to watch freight action.

The Palisades of New Jersey in the background are a favorite haunt of this photographer for watching evening rush hour trains.

Having a freight pull in on Track 4 and stop in the station to wait for a signal is EXTREMELY rare. I have only seen a freight use track 4 one other time in the past 12+ years.
