In the week during Post Sandy recovery, B749-05 brings K284-04 south through Marble Hill, New York on an extremely rare daylight move with SD60M's 8757, 8764 and 102 cars on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 120pm. The K284 had tied down in the early morning hours at Beacon (MP 59), and was recrewed by B749.
I received word at 1135am as the train was approaching Garrison, MP 50, and I was an hour away. By the time I was just entering The Tappan Zee Bridge, I could see the rear end glistening in the sun along the river in Irvington.
Thankfully the train was held at CP 19, north of Greystone for 20 minutes allowing me to finally get ahead and set up at Marble Hill on The Broadway Bridge.
The rare scene of a freight train in daylight caught the attention of many onlookers, oddly enough a direct result of Hurricane Sandy which has affected so many in The New York City region.
