CSX Local B749-24 heads north over the out of service New Hamburg Drawbridge spanning Wappinger Creek as the Danskammer Plant looks on from Roseton.
CSX at the time, would head north from Croton West Yard weekly, to serve the one customer that was still located in Poughkeepsie in the CNE Yard, called American Steel Processing, which shipped out scrap metal. This was a former customer on the Hospital Branch served by CSX Local B751 circa 2000.
In 2014, this customer no longer exists, and the CSX local does not travel any further north than Chelsea, New York, 10 miles south of Poughkeepsie, leaving scenes like this impossible as only nocturnal road trains now pass here nightly.
Note the high gondola still stenciled for Northern Pacific, which has not existed since 1970, which makes this photo extraordinary.
