Steam in The Catskills
On August 8-9, The Catskill Mountain Railroad hosted Baldwin 0-4-0 "Viscose Company" #6, built in 1924, from Mt. Tremper to Phoenicia, New York. A sight not seen since 1949, steam running alongside Route 28 was a quite a sight to behold for railfans and tourists alike. The train is seen here at Campground Curve along Esopus Creek, the site of a devastating washout caused by Hurricane Irene on August 28, 2011. The curve was rebuilt entirely with volunteer efforts.
