The MIGHTY Starrucca Viaduct
Almost exactly 6 years ago, this had been the last time that Erie E8A 833 had not only moved under her own power, but turned a wheel at all.
After sitting dormant on the Port Jervis turntable for 6 years, Erie 833, (former Conrail OCS 4022) has been awarded well deserved fame once again; being announced to appear at the huge Streamliners at Spencer event in North Carolina.
Behold a sight that only myself and Josh S. Weis captured on a beautiful Saturday morning: An original Erie E8A on the Erie mainline proudly crossing the mighty Starrucca Viaduct opened in 1848 in Lanesboro, Pennsylvania.
What was most amazing about this day, is that only a dozen fellow photographers came out for this most epic event on a gorgeous Saturday that was very well publicized. It is hard to comprehend those that complain that "nothing ever runs on the tier", yet when faced with this opportunity, they decide to make fun of those who made the right choice, and well, you photographed the same boring trains again.
Most importantly, a big thank you to the woman who allowed us to photograph from her private property. Always pays to ask permission. Well, sometimes.
The train had originated in Binghamton earlier that morning with the following equipment;

NYGL 536 (Passenger Car)
