Real Erie Heritage on Moodna Viaduct

Real Erie Heritage on Moodna Viaduct

After sitting dormant on the Port Jervis turntable for 6 years, Erie 833, (former Conrail OCS 4022) has been awarded well deserved fame once again; being announced to appear at the huge Streamliners at Spencer event in North Carolina.

Behold a sight that only myself, David Silver and Roger Cook captured on a beautiful afternoon: An original Erie E8A on the Erie proudly crossing the mighty Moodna Viaduct in the Town of Cornwall, New York. Opened in January 1909, the trestle is 3200 feet long, and 193 feet at its highest point.

This move originated in Port Jervis, New York earlier that afternoon with the following equipment:

NS 5617 (GP 38-2)
NYGL 833 (Erie E8A)

All equipment listed as NYGL, belongs to the New York and Greenwood Lake Railway.
