The Maine Central (right) once crossed The Boston & Maine (left) at the ball signal in Whitefield, New Hampshire. The last Maine Central train from St. Johnsbury (towards) passed here on September 3, 1983. Subsequent railroads here were Guilford Rail System, and New Hampshire and Vermont Railroad. The ball signal had fallen into heavy disrepair, and within the past month was restored to pristine condition, looking better than in did in 1983.
